At Rasmussen Starr Ruddy (RSR), we’re all about balance. We believe in working smart and playing hard. Every team member here is encouraged to bring their best ideas and energy to the table — and, of course, have fun while doing it. We’ve built a workplace where collaboration, creativity, and real connections thrive.
We value every individual’s unique contribution, whether you’re collaborating on a complex legal issue or brainstorming ways to improve the office vibe. We’re driven, passionate, and enjoy a good laugh along the way — because we believe that a positive, energetic environment leads to both personal growth and exceptional work.
If you’re looking for a career where you’re supported, challenged, and given the freedom to innovate, RSR is the place to be.
Join us if you’re ready to take your career to the next level while being part of a team that values both hard work and a little humour.
Think you’ve got what it takes to be part of our dynamic team? If you’re driven, eager to learn, and ready to contribute, we want to hear from you.
At RSR, student development is a top priority. We provide hands-on experience across multiple practice areas, giving you the autonomy to take on greater responsibility as you grow. Work alongside a supportive, collaborative team, gaining skills to shape your legal career.
Summer Students: We hire one second-year summer student annually.
Articling Students: Each year, we bring on one or two articling students.
You’ll gain exposure to a variety of practice areas, ensuring you build a well-rounded skill set.
Mentorship at RSR is more than a checkmark. We will guide you throughout your time with us, offering regular feedback, career advice, and the support you need to develop professionally.
Jump into real cases from day one. Assist with drafting key documents, attend motions, and observe court hearings across motions, trials, and appeals. You will also have carriage of various Small Claims Court files, allowing you to experience running a litigation file.
Take on hands-on work drafting wills, supporting business transactions, and managing real estate deals. You’ll connect directly with clients, draft contracts, and help close meaningful transactions.
We value your effort and make sure you’re well-compensated. Articling students receive competitive pay, health benefits, and two weeks of paid study leave for licensing examination prep. We also cover the cost of the licensing examinations and materials.
Work should be professionally fulfilling and socially rewarding. From summer BBQs to our winter party, and joining events like client and industry golf tournaments, there are plenty of opportunities to connect and unwind with your colleagues.
Our student program is our main source for hiring new lawyers, and we’re always looking for promising future team members.
Summer Students: RSR follows the Ottawa Summer Recruitment Process in line with the Law Society of Ontario guidelines. For current opportunities, visit the viLawPortal.
Articling Students: Articling interviews are held after students complete their second-year law exams, following LSO guidelines.
